Biography

Alexander Sivaev began his creative career 20 years ago at The Young Actors Musical Theatre. He graduated in 2008 from the production faculty of the Nemirovich-Danchenko Studio School of the Chekhov Moscow Arts Theatre directed by Damir Ismagilov. Alexander has previously worked in the lighting design department of the Bolshoi Theatre. He has worked as an assistant lighting designer together with Gleb Filshtinsky for a long time. He has served as chief lighting designer in Moscow operetta house since 2014. In his capacity as a lighting designer he has worked at numerous theatres throughout Russia including music theatres such as the Bolshoi Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre, the Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Eifman ballet theatre, Royal Swedish Opera, Hungarian National Opera, Theater Basel, Saarländisches Staatstheater. And drama theatre: Chekhov Moscow Arts Theatre, the Pushkin Moscow Drama Theatre and the Sovremennik theatre. Together with the company Stage Entertainment Russia he has designed for the musicals Zorro (Moscow version), The Sound of Music and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella as well as the seven ice shows. With company Broadway Moscow has designed Chess musical and First date musical. He was nominated for the Golden Mask award for the opera Les Contes d’Hoffmann (2013) and drama “Uncle Vanya” (2018) and awarded for “Run” Vakhtangov Theatre.
